Once you start to learn the basics you’ll want to incorperate some advanced techniques into your playing, here are a few: Alternate picking- This is simply strumming up and down. Try it slow palying a series of notes then speed it up playing more complex patterns. Pinch Harmonics- Also called squeelies, this is how you get the guitar to make those high pitch noises common in music. Its hard to master but once you do its second nature. The technique here is to lighly touch the string with your thumb after you pick to bring out the harmonic. Sweep picking- One of the most difficult to master is sweep picking. Sweep picking involves sweeping your pick up and down the strings, while indivdually playing the notes. Once mastered you can make some very cool effects.
